About

Escalante, a small town in southern Utah located between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks, is almost completely surrounded by the masterpiece of nature.  The majestic western beauty of the Escalante area is a virtual paradise for western artist Lynn Griffin.

Lynn was born and raised in Escalante.  He shares his love for the land and its rich, western history through his paintings.

Lynn began to show his artistic ability as a young boy.  He has continued to develop his talent, and his love for it, throughout his life.  But it wasn't until Lynn began to win awards for his paintings, and successfully sold some of his work that he began to see the great potential of his talent.

Lynn's work has brought him numerous awards.  His paintings are found in many art galleries and private collections throughout the country.  Some of Lynn's paintings have been exhibited in Europe.

His paintings have been featured in various art magazines and even appeared on the cover of the Illustrator Magazine, which features nationally recognized artists.

Lynn uses mostly acrylic paints in his work.  His painstaking efforts to show great detail have helped to make his paintings popular with everyone who owns one.

He paints on either canvas or on masonite panels prepared with four thin coats of gesso.  While the preferred size for his paintings is 24"x36", his work ranges anywhere from 9"x12" to 36"x48".

In each of Lynn's paintings you will find a lone hawk in flight, which has become a trademark in his work.  To the Indians, a lone hawk flying high in the sky was a sign that good things would happen.  When Lynn learned about this legend, he decided to put a lone hawk in each of his paintings hoping it would help bring him success.
